Does ThoughtWorks use agencies?

Rarely. ThoughtWorks has a talented and rather good looking recruitment team that functions like an internal recruitment consultancy. If you've seen our advertisements, you know that we use a lot of the same methods as you to find people. We try to avoid being in races with recruiters over people because we don't think that this is the best use of our (or your) time.

To put it simply, we like to recruit directly where possible and most of the people who work here have got here through this route.

But what if I have the perfect candidate?

We actually get a lot of calls from people who feel they have the perfect candidate for us. Unfortunately, we often also get firms just sending us all of the people from their database who they think might be suitable for a role here.

Each of our offices is slightly different, but basically we have a preferred supplier list of agencies in each country that we do work with. We're not so structured as to have a regular formal review of this list. Changes to it happen either because of experiences we've had with firms, or by demonstrated reputation within the industry.

But really, what if I have the perfect candidate?

Okay. We do recognise that sometimes you may have the perfect person for us. And really, we do like that you've thought of us! We're hoping though, that person isn't someone who tells you that they are interested in working for ThoughtWorks and you pretend to have a great relationship with us so the candidate thinks that you can make an introduction. Sending an unsolicited resume will rarely lead to significant progress within the process.

So back to that perfect candidate I've got�.

If there's someone in your network that you think would make a perfect ThoughtWorker, that makes us happy. So, please get them to write a cover note explaining why they want to be represented to us by you and send that, along with their resume, to the recruitment team here. Then, we'll agree on rates and have a chat!

If you're going to do this, we ask for one candidate in the first instance and if things look good, we'll contact you to set up an interview.
